What is Release Management?
Release Management, also known as deployment management, is the formal management of software releases within an organization. The discipline focuses on creating an efficient flow between the development, testing, deployment, and support of an organization's many computer systems. This is a constant, cyclical process that continues to become more complex as new technology options emerge in the business place.
Momentum's Methodology
Momentum consultants work with a client's business, application, and infrastructure teams to develop defined processes and procedures for managed software, hardware, and system deployments. Our staff has working knowledge of the various environments from development to staging to production, and understands the criticality for releases that flow smoothly from one environment to the next. Our managed processes and procedures include the
necessary notification, escalation, and backout plans needed to reduce the risk of implementing change.
Consulting Expertise
Whether you deploy your systems in a managed services or non-managed services environment, Momentum's
professionals have the project management and analysis background necessary to perform impact analysis for any type of release. Momentum makes sure to understand its clients' business requirements, service level agreements, partner agreements, managed services restrictions, help desk, and hosting options in order for release management activities to be successful with no impact to end users or customers.
Release Management Methodology
Routine maintenance, emergency maintenance, and scheduled application releases can all be managed successfully
utilizing Momentum's Release Management Methodology. Our methodology includes templates and guidance
documentation to ensure that the proper meetings, planning, scheduling, reporting, and communication activities are clearly defined, monitored, and adhered to.
Proven Expert Experience
Momentum consultants have experience in both leading and participating in all sizes of releases, from small defect fix deployments to large, multi-vendor, disparate system deployments. We understand the technology from an end-to-end perspective — from development, configuration management, testing, and production. We are committed to supporting you and your initiatives from the beginning phase through post production implementation. Our staff will guide you through your Go/No Go decisions, defect analysis, limitation analysis, and scheduling risks. Our day doesn't end at 5 pm; it is only beginning when you have an off-business hours release!
