Moving Forward…
Twenty years ago, in a technology world vastly different than the one we live in today, three individuals came together to forge a small professional management consulting firm in Central Pennsylvania. Lori Daniels, Karen Sarabok and Steve Clay founded Momentum, Inc. on the principles of hard-work, listening to clients and producing tangible results for organizations. These three colleagues were entrepreneurs looking to make a difference in a world of technology explosion. It’s hard to envision what THAT world really looked like for many individuals in the work force today. Consider the top three technology predictions from Harper Business, published December 1, 1996:
- The launch of the second internet—direct broadcast satellite, cable modems, and broad-band ISDN are emerging technologies.
- DVD is going to be “very big.”
- Desktop video conferencing will emerge as a ‘high-tech’ and ‘high-touch’ form of communication.
Today all of these predictions have come to fruition and they are common place technologies. But, in 1997, they represented new and exciting possibilities. The individual, writing about these predictions, Heather Page, was providing content for a magazine, not a corporate blog like the one Momentum is launching this year. But her intent was the same, provide valuable insights on current business trends, support communities through corporate stewardship, and strives to create a better world through quality service that through meaningful public sector and commercial projects.
I’m sure in twenty years this blog will serve as a time capsule of Momentum’s thought leadership. I am excited to see the twists and turns of this journey and hope you are as well. Stay tuned for the next edition of Moving Forward.
