Momentum, Inc. Develop New Product to Help Healthcare Providers
Momentum, Inc. announced the launch of a new product today aimed at helping healthcare providers qualify for federal incentives with the ultimate goal of improving patient care. Momentum partnered with Target Systems, a Mechanicsburg-based Information Technology company, to develop the online tool.
The Meaningful Use Assessment Tool will provide area practices with the ability to show that they are meeting Meaningful Use as outlined in the HITECH Act.
In February 2009, President Obama signed the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act in conjunction with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) included in his overall economic stimulus plan. The HITECH Act continues the effort of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to encourage the movement for adoption of Health Information Technology (HIT) making patient data more accessible for healthcare professionals while maintaining the patient’s record privacy and protection.
The Meaningful Use Assessment Tool will walk healthcare organizations through the process of achieving Meaningful Use, a qualification to receive the federal incentives available under the HITECH Act. Healthcare organizations are eligible to receive incentive payments as they adopt, implement, upgrade, or meaningfully use electronic health records (EHR) technology. The Meaningful Use Assessment Tool makes it easy to track, measure and fulfill all criteria and qualifications needed to prepare an MU attestation report for filing with the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to receive incentive payments.
The tool gives healthcare providers the choice of a guided attestation process or a full service one completed by a subject matter expert. For more information about the tool or to subscribe, visit www.meaningfulusetool.com.
