Momentum, Inc. was a proud Platinum Sponsor at this year’s Special Olympics PA – Area M games hosted at Messiah College in Mechanicsburg, PA. The games were held on Thursday, April 11^th, 2019 . Momentum hosted the shot put event and managed an arts and crafts table at the Olympic Village for the athletes with activities that included hair coloring and designing their own trophy, Olympic medal and bracelet.

Special Olympics PA – Area M offers the chance for adults and children with intellectual disabilities in Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry and York Counties to compete in a sports training competition. Their mission is to offer Olympic style games for each person to experience joy, develop physical fitness skills, and develop friendships with their families and other athletes.

The event at Messiah College hosted over 1,300 athletes in a variety of events.  Numerous members of the local community volunteer each year as buddies to the athletes and help the games run smoothly.

In addition, Momentum, along with D&H Distributing, operates the Olympic Village offering activities including games, art/crafts, music and food. Momentum offers its employees an extra vacation day each year to participate in volunteering opportunities, including Special Olympics.
